Over the next couple of weeks, we've got quite a bit going on with the bands here at Dewey Public Schools! For a quick view of what is happening when, feel free to check out our calendar page here on the band website.
Leap Day Concert
This coming week, we will be presenting a Leap Day Concert with the Middle School Band and the High School Jazz and Concert Bands. The concert will be on Monday, February 29th, in the HS Auditorium, beginning at 6:30 PM. All students will need to report to the band room at 6:00 PM to warm up and prepare for the concert. A reminder note was sent home with all students earlier this week. The schedule for the evening is as follows:
6:00 PM - Call time at the band room
6:30 PM - Concert Begins w/ the MS Band
6:50 PM - HS Jazz Band performs
7:00 PM - HS Band performs (contest preview)
High School performance times are approximate, depending on set up times and time of music played on stage. Please keep in mind that all performances are mandatory for all students involved, and an unexcused absence from a concert will result in a substantial reduction in the student's grade. For more information, consult the band handbook (available on this site), and contact Mr. McKinney with any additional questions or concerns.
Beginning Band students may attend the concert for extra credit, provided they have their program signed by Mr. McKinney or Mr. Green after the concert and bring it to class the next day.
High School Band Contest
On Tuesday, March 8th, the High School Band will perform at the OSSAA district concert band contest at Bartlesville High School. The program for contest will include Let Evening Come by Robert Sheldon and Falcon Ridge by Ed Huckeby. An itinerary for this contest will be sent home with students soon. We appreciate your support as we perform this program at our district contest in March!
